#RR121H

Hand Embroidery Pattern for 1780s Twining Vines Border.

Description

This design is based on a sketch for muslin embroidery held at the Victoria & Albert Museum, E.246-1973. It is one of two designs for petticoats or open gowns, dated to the 1780’s. These designs were professionally drawn and used by professional embroiderers, who sometimes also lent the patterns out to clients. It is part of the same collection of drawings as RR123, the Wisteria Garland Apron.

This design is perfect for a wide range of late 18th and early 19th c. designs. Please see the period examples on our Pinterest page of scalloped borders for inspiration.

You will receive a detailed PDF containing historical notes, tips for transferring your pattern, the embroidery design, and reversed design, and a guide to stitch direction based on the original artwork.

Finished size: the border repeat is approximately 6″ x 3.9″
